This is my second
painting of this scene for the “30 Paintings in 30 Days” Challenge. My first one was posted on Day 4. I think my interpretation on this one is
better, it is a much cleaner painting, not nearly as dark and I am much happier
with it.
Often when I tell
myself that I can do it better if I just paint it again, it doesn’t work and
the second one turns out worse than the first.
However, on this one there were quite a few days in between so I was
able to look at it through fresh eyes and I had the experience of painting
every day during that time. Perhaps the
saying “practise makes perfect” is true after all. That’s not saying that this one is perfect
because I can see many things that could be improved.
I know that there
might be some who prefer the first one on Day 4. Others will prefer this one today. It’s good that art is in the eye of the
beholder!
I’m glad I started
painting 12 or 13 years ago. It was
Grandma Moses who said
If I didn't start painting, I
would have raised chickens."
