Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day 21
 Yellow Poppy
6" x 6" Acrylic on loose canvas
$45

Poppies are always popular, especially red ones, but not too often does one see a yellow poppy.  If you do a Google search for “pictures of poppies” you will be shown mainly red ones with a few white, maybe a few pink, but only the occasional yellow poppy.  I know there are blue poppies which have become world famous because of a well known garden here in British Columbia, but I was particularly taken with this yellow one.

I am very fortunate to have a cousin in-law living in Tucson, Arizona who enjoys gardening pretty much year ‘round.  In his garden was this lovely yellow poppy.  He is also an avid photographer so there are lots of pictures of different flowers that he grows.  This picture is taken from the back of the flower which is a very unique view.  I have had someone “commission” me to paint a red poppy scene for them so this is a bit of a practise run.  Fortunately the painting is not needed until Christmas so I think I might have time to do it!!!!
