Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day 12
Sunflower
6" x 6" Acrylic on loose canvas
$45

Here is day twelve bright and early on a dull Sunday morning.  This weekend has been hectic with other responsibilities that have taken a lot of time.  I don't think today is going to be a "day of rest" as I have to speak at a retirement home tonight as well as attending church this morning.  Oh well, tomorrow can be a catch-up day.

Today's painting is a bit of an experiment for me as it is a "knife painting".  I have done knife paintings before, but with this one I wanted to use one of the Golden mediums which I have not done before.  I chose to use Golden Regular Gel which produces some great texture on the painting.  Unfortunately, that texture doesn't show too well on the photo but the original painting is nice and rough, bumpy and wonderfully textured.

I am generally pleased with the result although the petals of a sunflower usually are smooth to the touch.  I think this painting could probably be classed as a "realistic abstract".  I hope it brings a ray of sunshine and some brightness into your day!
