30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day Four
6" x 6" Acrylic on loose canvas
SOLD

This is from a picture taken by the Fulford Ferry Terminal on Salt Spring Island.  I was intrigued by the tree sticking out over the water a bit, and by the rocky shoreline at that particular point.

Again, this was a learning experience as I still find that the canvas seems to soak up the paint quite quickly so I have to go back over and put a second coat of paint on.  Perhaps if I used a thicker coat to begin with I wouldn't have that problem.  Soon I'm going to try painting on RayMar Art smooth cotton panels which will be a totally different feel from the loose canvas.  I had a number of smaller pieces of loose canvas that I wanted to use up before moving on to some other ground.

So far I haven't found it hard to do a painting a day, but this is only the fourth day.  It might be different when I get to day seventeen or so.  I have lots of ideas yet floating around in my mind so we'll see if I can bring them to fruition!

Well, the ferry leaves the Fulford Terminal every two hours and that's what I had allotted for each of my paintings so time I was sailing on!  I'll chat with you again tomorrow.

Cheers

  1. Sure hard to stay within the two hour allotment, eh. Good for you, Gerry. I am enjoying the thoughts artists are sharing with the postings, being I am a bit passionate about words too. thanks for getting me into this challenge, I am enjoying all aspects of it so far.
