Hornby Island Beach
6" x 6" Acrylic on loose canvas
$45
It's been a busy morning so didn't get this posted as early as I usually do. I think there are some who are following my postings who check Face Book almost before they get out of bed in the morning. I glad I can give you something to look forward to day by day. I'm not sure what will happen when the 30 days are over. I might just keep painting and posting!!!!
In this painting I was attempting to do some transparent “glazing”,
almost in a watercolour style.
Unfortunately I didn’t get the results I had hoped for. The glazes were much too thin so the result
was almost like a pastel painting. With the
thin washes the weave of the canvas shows through quite clearly. Probably another coat of gesso would have
helped with this. I am also going to try
painting on watercolour paper, which I understand, produces some excellent
results. 300 pound cold press would be
fairly smooth but it is not flexible like the loose canvas.
Then, the photograph is not the best, but again the good,
the bad, and the ugly are posted after two hours. It’s still fun and a wonderful learning
adventure.
I will attempt this painting again implementing the lessons
I have learned from this one.
