Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day 19
Collage of Colour Abstract
6" x 6" Acrylic on loose canvas
$45

There were two things I wanted to attempt in this abstract.  One was to work on blending colours without leaving a hard edge.  With acrylics it is often difficult to blend the edges because they dry so quickly so one has to work fairly quickly.

The second thing I wanted to experiment with was some “scraping” and again, this has to be done fairly quickly while the paint is still moist.  I did miss some scratches because I was too slow!  In this painting I used a simple plastic fork using the tines for some of the calligraphy, and the butt end of the handle for some.  Generally, it was a learning experience that proved to be worthwhile for me.

So again, the “30 paintings in 30 days challenge” has been well worth the effort.
